SUN, MOON—BRIDEGROOM, BRIDE

In the Book of Jubilees, which christianity wrongly removed from the canon of scripture, the sun is referred to as “he,” while the moon is referred to as “she.” Of course, the female monthly cycle is often likened to the lunar phases.

But, there is an even deeper, more profound picture that is shown. The sun is the light, but the moon receives the light of the sun and reflects it onto the earth. It is a picture of the Bridegroom, who is the light, and His bride, who receives the light and shines it into the darkness.

And, when does the moon shine the light of the sun into the darkness? It is when the sun “goes away.” In John 16:17, Messiah Yahoshua explained that He had to go away so that the Holy Spirit could be given. This truth is mostly not understood by those who are lost in the false teachings of christianity, as the counterfeit of the true faith abolished the Father’s traditions, which include the wedding traditions. Sadly, most don’t understand what the OLD covenant WAS, what the NEW covenant IS, or the correlations between them; nor do they even know that the new covenant is a marriage covenant.

So many in christianity falsely think the Holy Spirit was not given to anybody until Acts 2 (which occurred on the Feast of Weeks—the Sabbath feast that commemorated the giving of the OLD covenant), but the Old Testament scriptures are replete with examples of the Holy Spirit being given to people. What occurred in Acts 2 was the revealing of a specific function of the Holy Spirit, which His eternal seal upon Messiah’s bride as the NEW covenant of marriage.

The wedding traditions dictated that, once the bridegroom had fully paid the redemption price for his betrothed bride, he would publicly declare “It is finished,” meaning that the redemption price for his bride had been paid in full. He would then give his betrothed bride a “ketubah,” or covenant of marriage in which he promised to provide for her support while he was away (John 16:13), and also the promise that he would return for her once he had completed preparing their dwelling place (John 14:2-3), and his father would tell him to go and bring his bride to the wedding chamber.

For the covenant to be given, it meant that he had to go to his father’s house to build their dwelling, and the Bridegroom and bride could not have direct contact again until the dwelling place has been completed according to the Father’s will, at which time the Father will tell His Son to go and bring His bride home. So, Messiah Yahoshua said He HAD to go away—because if He had not gone away, there would be no new covenant given, which means there would be no dwelling place prepared, and no wedding.

When the Bridegroom went away, a new covenant was given (Acts 2), which is the eternal seal of the Holy Spirit upon Messiah’s bride. The “light” that was in John the Baptist (John 1:7-8) is also in Messiah’s bride—it is the Holy Spirit. And, just as it was with John, the bride is not the light, but bears witness of the light to the world.

As the moon receives the sun’s light and shines it into the darkness of the earth, so too does the bride receive the light of the Bridegroom, and shines it into the darkness of the world. And, when does the bride shine the light of the Bridegroom into the world’s darkness? It’s when He has gone away—the period of mandatory separation of the Bridegroom and His betrothed bride, which is where we currently are. The bride is not the light, but bears witness of the light to the world.

Just like the Mercy Seat atop the Ark of the Covenant, the sun and the moon are a visual representation of Messiah Yahoshua, the Bridegroom, and his bride Y’isra-el, which, again, has nothing to do with anything physical like race, bloodline, or geographic residence. And, like the sun and the moon, while the Bridegroom is away, it is the bride who shines His light into the darkness.
