If your translation has anything in that blank other than Yahoshua, it is dishonest, for it clearly states He was speaking to Paul in Hebrew, thus, the name He gave would never have been a Greco-Roman invention that was created many years later because of hatred of the Jews.
She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name ________, for He will save His people from their sin. Matthew 1:21
If your translation has anything in that blank other than Yahoshua, it is dishonest, for Matthew (whose Gospel was originally written in Hebrew, according to Papias the Elder), stated WHY He was given His name. Yahoshua means “Yah’s salvation.” The only reason Matthew recorded the reason He was given His name is because of the meaning of the name itself. “Jesus” has no literal meaning.
For this reason also, Yah highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of _________ every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth. Philippians 2:9-10
If your translation has anything in that blank other than Yahoshua, it is dishonest, for we are told that, on that day, there will be a singular name spoken, and every knee will bow at that name. If your translation says the name is “jesus,” that’s an outright lie, because that name had not even been invented yet when that scripture was written. There is only one name, and it is the name He was given at His birth, and it is the name by which He identifies Himself. Yahoshua. Yah’s salvation.
The purpose here is to show the vast levels of dishonest manipulation that have occurred in your current translations of scripture, as the true name of Messiah was altered because early christians hated the Jews so much, they worked to obliterate it from the New Testament, and change it into a Greco-Roman cultural construct.
Just as they obfuscated the true names of the Father and the Son, they stripped the true faith of its foundations—the Father’s traditions. They invented a counterfeit of the entire faith, in addition to a counterfeit of its Messiah, at the behest of Satan. And that counterfeit continues to deceive and delude countless millions to this day.
It’s understood that most people will merely scoff at these truths, and consider them irrelevant. However, those who are genuinely seeking the truths of the Holy Spirit will recognize just how deceptive and dishonest christianity has been in its purposeful manipulations of the scriptures.
